This us really nice stuff! A great soundtrack to the obscure 1968 western Quanto Costa Morire (AKA Cost of Dying & Taste of Death) directed by Sergio Merolle and starring Andrea Giordana, John Ireland and Raymond Pellegrin. A group of cattle rustlers take over a town in the Colorado Rockies. The finale, a shoot out in the snow-covered mountains is both beautiful and innovative. Definitely a film worth seeking out.

Maestro De Masi has provided a very evocative score – owing more than a little to the Morricone Sound. Terrific suspense music and several gorgeous guitar solos make this one a standout soundtrack!

The original 16 track Cinevox LP is now a rare collectors item and this CD release, the guys at DigitMovies have unearthed the original mono master tapes and, along with the original 16 tracks, have found another 13 more and even had space on the CD for a 5 minute interview with the composer. Unfortunately it's conducted in Italian, so if you don't speak Italian then you can read the transcript that's helpfully provided in the CD booklet.
