Anyone who even CLAIMS to be a fan of gross-out cinema already KNOWS all about Nekromantik, Nekromantik 2, and Der Todesking. While not the complete soundtrack to these films, Nekronologym will definitely scratch a few sick itches out there.
Nekronology contains the music composed and created by Hermann Kopp for Buttgereit's classic movies. Definitely not “white-knuckle” action music by music by any stretch, this is the soundtrack of inner collapse and catastrophic nightmares. Hermann Kopp was involved in a band called Keine Ahnung in Germany in the 1980s and no doubt was noticed by the young and maverick new wave film director, Jorg Buttgereit. In 1987 Buttgereit took the underground cinema world by storm with his bleak taboo breaking tales of loving the dead.
For those too engrossed with the films’ visuals to notice the music, Kopp’s sound is dominated by deep minimal ambiences, mixed together with a cocktail of neo-classical, creepy found-sounds and a profound loneliness. Beautiful and creepy all at once!
Please note:
These are not the full soundtracks to Nekromantik, Nekromantik 2, and Der Todesking - just the music that was composed by Hermann Kopp.
